Big Nasty Entertainment

First and foremost, the Big Nasty is about motorcycle hillclimbing, and you'll see motorcycles like you'll see nowhere else. Everything ranging from 300 horsepower, nitro Harley's, to shrieking, wailing, multi-cylinder 2-strokes will massage your eardrums all weekend. You'll see a few riders go blasting over our three, different hills and a whole bunch who don't, and tumble haplessly toward the bottom.  But Big Nasty Land has more than hillclimbing going on.  We make sure that you are NEVER bored!

This year's Nasty will once again feature our usual crazy stuff including pumpkin shooting, helicopter rides, mechanical bull rides, 500 horsepower air boat rides, and fireworks, but we can't stop there.  The 2011 Nasty has added a full-blown mud drag event behind the campground, and rides in the famous Thumper Monster Truck.  Nearby will be sanctioned RC car races and RC helicopter and plane demos.  We are also changing up our entertainment this year with some awesome new bands on the Jagermeister Stage, (which returns for the first time since 2009) and we're changing up our freestyle show from a dirt-bike type show with ramps, to a "crotch rocket" type show with stoppies, wheelies and burnouts and stars "Hollywood B" one of the true stars of the sport.  Read below for more details on all of this cool stuff and accept that Big Nasty Land IS the place where NASCAR meets Burning Man!

Night Hill Climb Hillclimber

When you aren't watching the climbing, there is plenty more to see and do in Big Nasty Land. We will continue to own the night with the Big Nasty Night Show. If you think that hillclimbing in the daylight is cool, just wait until you see it under the lights at 10pm!

Everyone loves a good mud drag, and the 2011 Big Nasty Mud Drag is yet another brand-new part of Big Nasty Land.  Located behind the campground, just to the east of the helicopter rides booth, the Nasty Mud Drag will be a full-blown, race event, run in a regulation-sized pit, 175 feet long, 20 feet wide and 32 inches deep, and will feature classes for all kinds of trucks, jeeps, 4-wheelers and even motorcycles.  There will also be some "special" events like tug of war and a kids dash for cash.  The mud drag will be organized and run by Mike Poff, an experienced mud drag promoter who hosts the Council Mud Drags, and this is yet another reason to vist Big Nasty Land this year!  For rules, entry forms and more information, please visit our mud drag page

We are changing up our freestyle show this year to something completely different.  Instead of off-road type freestyle with brave guys and dirt bikes, using ramps to jump 40 feet in the air, we are bringing in the famous Hollywood B, and some of his buddies from Seattle and Canada.  These pros ride "crotch rocket" type bikes and do wheelies, stoppies, burnouts, and a lot more.  You can see Hollywood B and some of his buddies at Hollywood B.

We just can’t stop adding cool stuff to Big Nasty Land, so this year, in addition to mud drags and monster truck rides, we are adding a permanent RC car track, next to the campground.  All of our RC stuff, cars, planes and helicopters is sponsored by RC Hobbies in Boise, http://franchise.rc-hobbies.com/.  They are designing our 100 x 200 track and the races will be part of their sanctioned race series.  These are the same guys who built a track in downtown Boise in Qwest Arena, and just attempted a world RC car jump record at the Northwest MotorFest.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH1tRRzEMeE Bring your car, bring your kids and get ready to see reason number 219 to visit Big Nasty Land.

Pathfinder HelicoptersPathfinder Helicopters will also return from Utah and will offer spectacular and affordable rides, we just don't recommend that you eat a corndog right before the ride.

Watersports anyone? Take a thrilling ride at the Big Nasty with Hells Canyon Adventures on their 24-foot, 475 horsepower Diamondback Airboat. Your wild, twisting 3-mile round-trip ride will start and finish in the river at the front gate, will last ten minutes, and you'll see the Big Nasty, and some of the surprisingly isolated country surrounding it, like you've never seen it before!

Thumber Monster TruckThumper the Monster Truck is coming for the first time ever.  This HUGE, noisy, fast truck securely holds 10-12 kids and adults and is a great addtiion to Big Nasty Land.  You'll see Thumper roaring around all weekend near the new mud drags, behind the campground.  You can read more about Thumper by visiting www.rideamonster.com.

We're turning up the heat again this year with the return of the awesome Jagermeister Stage, and we are putting some all new entertainment on it!  Friday night kicks off with the Blues Addicts, who will play from about 7 to 9pm.

Blues AddictsThe Blues Addicts are not your typical blues band.  Now in their 4th year of playing in the Boise area, they have developed a very fun playlist culled from a wide variety of songs made popular by their musical heroes including: Eric Clapton, Derek & the Dominos, the Allman Brothers, Dire Straits, JJ Cale, Muddy Waters, and Traffic are just a few examples of the artists that they draw inspiration from.  Their joy comes from playing these songs to an enthusiastic audience who loves this kind of music as much as they do.  We are proud to announce that the Blues Addicts won the "People's Choice Award" at the 2010 Boise Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival.  Blues Addicts on Facebook | Blues Addicts Home Page

Half the WorldHalf the World

They will be followed by our only returning band this year, Half the World, who will be on stage from about 9:30 until around 11:30.

Hailing from Holland, lead singer Mary Magill - with her striking visual presence and commanding, world-class voice - is Half the World's onstage focal point. The rhythm section is comprised of Mat Hansen on bass and Pete Weaver on drums and backup vocals (Pete also produces and engineers for the band). Sean Thompson and Brett Pedersen's incandescent, razor-edged guitars generate the fure that electrifies this monumental wall of sound. This very popular band, based out of Boise, Idaho, will appeal to fans of Breaking Benjamin, Evanescence, Three Days Grace, Paramore, Chevelle, Seether, Sevendust, and the Foo Fighters. Come TogetherSaturday night's lineup is led by popular Boise Beatles cover band, Come Together, followed by another local cover band called Dutchess Down the Well.

Come Together has the Beetles sound down pat.  If you like the Beetles (and who doesn't?) then you will like these guys!  They will take the stage on Saturday night at about 7 and play for 2 hours, taking you back to the 1960's when some of the greatest music of all time was written.

Dutchess Down the WellDutchess Down the Well plays a wide variety of stuff that includes the likes of the Beetles, Sublime, the Roots, David Bowie, Modest Mouse, Iration, Lit, Blur, Led Zepplin, Outkast, Bob Marley, and many more.  They will cap a great ending on Saturday night to our 2011 Big Nasty Music on the Jagermeister Stage.
